On April 27, 2026, local time, a momentous announcement was made at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France. At the welcoming ceremony for new members of the UNESCO Global Geopark, the Mt. Siguniang Global Geopark was officially awarded the title, joining the ranks of the world's 12 newly recognized UNESCO Global Geoparks!

This is the highest recognition of the geological value of Mt. Siguniang by UNESCO, and it marks a new milestone for the development of cultural and tourism industries in Xiaojin, Aba, and western Sichuan!

Mount Siguniang, integrating extremely high mountains, glaciers, canyons, meadows, and forests, stands as a highly representative natural geological museum on the eastern edge of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, comprehensively documenting the magnificent journey from the ancient Tethyan Ocean to the uplift of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
