On June 20th, Xiaojin County held a mobilization meeting for the inspection of Mt. Siguniang Aspiring UNESCO Global Geopark, comprehensively arranging and deploying the inspection task process, and sounding the clarion call for the international assessment of the establishment of a UNESCO Global Geopark. Liu Minggang, the Deputy Secretary of the County Party Committee and the County Mayor, presided over the meeting and required that we carefully compare the creation standards and implementation plans, clarify time nodes, strengthen coordination and cooperation, and implement and refine the inspection preparation work at a high level, striving to deliver a satisfactory answer for the establishment of Mt. Siguniang UNESCO Global Geopark. Hongmei, Ou Zhiyong, and Zhou Tao, members of the Standing Committee of the County Party Committee, relevant county leaders, members of the Mt. Siguniang Geopark Management Bureau, as well as responsible comrades from county-level departments, townships, management bureaus, and relevant enterprises attended the meeting.

The meeting briefed the UNESCO experts on the schedule and task division for the on-site assessment of the proposed Mt. Siguniang UNESCO Global Geopark, and arranged the inspection preparation process. Liu Minggang pointed out that this inspection is not only a global certification of the geological heritage value of Mt. Siguniang, but also a crucial battle for Xiaojin County to step onto the world stage. Everyone should be in a wartime state, issuing a general order for a decisive battle, and mobilizing the entire county to sprint towards the goal of becoming "the first UNESCO Global Geopark in the prefecture".

Liu Minggang emphasized the need to anchor at a strategic level and understand the era value of the acceptance inspection work. Mt. Siguniang's aspiration to become a UNESCO Global Geopark carries threefold strategic significance. Firstly, it represents a political commitment to national missions, a major task orchestrated by the provincial party committee and government, as well as the prefecture party committee and government. It serves as a national window showcasing China's achievements in geological heritage conservation to the world. Secondly, it serves as a scientific specimen of Earth's memory, with the "Xikang-type" folds of the Songpan-Garzê orogenic belt, the extremely high mountain ranges on the eastern edge of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and Quaternary glacial remains at its core. It comprehensively records the geological evolution history from the closure of the ancient Tethyan Ocean to the uplift of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, possessing global comparative research value. Thirdly, it presents a golden opportunity for regional development. This year, only 11 geoparks worldwide participated in the assessment (domestically, only Mt. Siguniang and Changshan in Zhejiang Province). A successful application will empower the construction of the "Dujiangyan-Siguniang" mountain railway, promoting ecological protection, science popularization education, and the integration of cultural tourism to achieve leapfrog development. It is necessary to tackle core battlefields, build a full-chain inspection system, strengthen hardware upgrades, create geological exhibition benchmarks, enhance content development, forge high-quality application materials, strengthen on-site support, build a full-process protective network, enhance atmosphere creation, form a pattern of universal participation, tighten the responsibility chain, unite the joint force to win the battle, establish a wartime command system, strengthen collaborative combat mechanisms, and strictly supervise and implement the accountability system.

Liu Minggang emphasized that the clarion call for the decisive battle has been sounded. Everyone should embrace a reverent attitude of "safeguarding the Earth's heritage" and a missionary responsibility of "creating a world brand", transforming the geological wonders of Mt. Siguniang into a world business card showcasing China's charm, and engraving an indelible "world mark" for the high-quality development of Xiaojin County.
