On June 4th, the Mt. Siguniang Nature Reserve Administration held a meeting to promote the application for the UNESCO Global Geopark status and conduct inspection preparation training. The meeting comprehensively reviewed the current progress of the application work and focused on arranging and deploying the on-site inspection preparation work for the next stage. Relevant departments of the Mt. Siguniang Nature Reserve Administration, the Forestry and Grassland Bureau of Xiaojin County, the Public Security Sub-bureau of Mt. Siguniang, the towns of Mt. Siguniang, Lianghekou, Dawei, Wori, Rier Township, Jiesi Township, the Mt. Siguniang Tourism Company, and the Sichuan Institute of Geophysical Survey attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Chen Yu, the Deputy Director of the Mt. Siguniang Nature Reserve Administration.
Yang Jinshan, the chief engineer of the Self-Regulation Center of the Provincial Geophysical Institute, reported on the overall progress of the application and creation work, and provided a detailed explanation focusing on the expert inspection itinerary and on-site inspection precautions.
The meeting also conducted a special training session on preparing for the inspection of UNESCO Global Geoparks. Wei Haoxing broke down the scoring items of Table A and explained the key points of Table A.
At the end of the meeting, Deputy Director Chen Yu made the next step of work deployment. She emphasized that creating a UNESCO Global Geopark is an important opportunity to practice the concept of "Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets", enhance the international influence of the geopark and Xiaojin County, and promote the sustainable development of the geopark. Currently, the application work is in the final stretch of overcoming difficulties. Everyone should further strengthen the confidence and determination of "creating and achieving", deepen benchmarking and rectification, strengthen communication and coordination, refine the inspection process, and with a high sense of political responsibility and historical mission, strive to deliver a high-scoring answer sheet for Mt. Siguniang's application for the UNESCO Global Geopark with the standard of "zero risk".
