To ensure the smooth progress and effectiveness of the application for the UNESCO Global Geopark status for Mt. Siguniang, a promotion meeting for the application was held at Mt. Siguniang on March 17th. Yao Qijie, the Secretary of the Xiaojin County Party Committee and the Secretary of the Party Committee of the Mt.Siguniang Geopark Administration, delivered a speech.  He emphasized that applying for the UNESCO Global Geopark status is not just a simple title, but a political project related to the national ecological strategy, a reputation work related to the development of ethnic areas, and a century project related to human geoscience research. The entire county should unify their thoughts, build consensus, clarify goals, and fulfill responsibilities with a sense of responsibility that "never lets go" and an execution ability that "grasps everything tightly", to ensure the smooth progress and effectiveness of the application work.

The Deputy Secretary of the Xiaojin County Committee and the County Mayor Liu Minggang presided over the meeting, while Ze Liwang, the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of Mt.Siguniang Geopark Administration, arranged and deployed the application work. Relevant leaders at the county level, members of the Mt.Siguniang Geopark Administration leadership, and responsible comrades from county-level departments, towns, and administrative offices attended the meeting.

The meeting comprehensively summarized the progress of the application and creation work, conducted an in-depth analysis of existing issues, scientifically deployed work tasks, and adopted a four-step promotion model of "reporting-deployment-positioning-summarization", forming a work system characterized by "task listing, responsibility grid, and node visualization".

Yao Qijie pointed out that we should raise our political standing and deeply grasp the significant meaning of applying to become a UNESCO Global Geopark. Applying for the status of a UNESCO Global Geopark is a high recognition by UNESCO of local humanistic and natural resources. Xiaojin aims to build an international outdoor sports tourism destination, and a UNESCO Global Geopark is undoubtedly the most influential international brand. After successfully applying, it can not only showcase the magnificent landscapes of Quaternary Glaciers, granite landform, metamorphic rock relics, and tectonic landform in the Mt. Siguniang area to the world;  but also provide a broader platform for in-depth research on the geo-resources of the Mt. Siguniang area, further enhancing the academic status of Xiaojin and even the entire western Sichuan plateau in the field of geoscience. This lays a solid foundation for human exploration of the scientific mysteries of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and plate movements, and will also drive the vigorous development of related service industries such as tourism, accommodation, catering, and handicraft production, effectively promoting community economic growth, increasing the income of indigenous people, and injecting strong impetus into rural revitalization.

Yao Qijie emphasized that we must face the severe challenges and take extraordinary measures to ensure the success of the application.  As the time for national inspection and UNESCO expert evaluation approaches, there is still a lot of work to be done to meet the evaluation criteria. In the face of difficulties and challenges, we must further enhance our sense of responsibility, urgency, and mission. We must seize every minute and second in project construction, ensure rigorous and standardized archival materials, and strive for excellence in inspection reception, fully demonstrating the high level of Xiaojin's application work.

Yao Qijie emphasized the need to strengthen unity and cooperation to form a strong driving force for the application.  The county bureau and departments should work together to promote the application, and the units, towns, and departments involved in the task should not just sit on the sidelines, but actively participate and take responsibility.  Instead of being a hands-off manager, the main leaders should personally study, deploy, and implement the plan.  There should be no shirking or wrangling, and a good pattern of cooperation between the county bureau and departments should be formed. With more firm confidence, more full enthusiasm, and a more pragmatic style, we should work together to overcome difficulties and make positive contributions to successfully applying for the UNESCO Global Geopark gold signboard and promoting the construction of a high-quality development model in ethnic minority areas.
