1、The promotion meeting for Mt. Siguniang Aspiring UNESCO Global Geopark was held
On February 27, 2025, the promotion meeting for Mt. Siguniang's application to become a UNESCO Global Geopark was held at the Mt.Siguniang Geopark Administration. The meeting reviewed the current progress of the application, studied existing issues, and deployed key tasks for the next phase. Yao Qijie, Secretary of the Xiaojin County Party Committee and Secretary of the Party Committee of the Mt.Siguniang Geopark Administration, along with more than 30 relevant leaders and unit heads, attended the meeting. The meeting heard a report on Mt. Siguniang's application work, providing a detailed introduction to the application materials, compilation of Form A data, inspection preparation plan, signage system, museum cluster, environmental improvement, and follow-up work.
Since the initiation of the application process in 2022, Mt. Siguniang has been listed as a candidate site for the UNESCO Global Geopark by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration of China, and the application materials were submitted to UNESCO in November 2024. Currently, the review of the materials is underway. The construction of various hardware and software facilities in the park is steadily progressing. The participating departments expressed their commitment to closely collaborate, fulfill their responsibilities, and support the application process. In his concluding remarks, the secretary emphasized the importance of being goal-oriented and problem-solving, reversing the construction schedule, overcoming difficulties, and ensuring the achievement of the goal of "one application, one success," thereby injecting new momentum into the high-quality development of Mt. Siguniang and Xiaojin County.

2、Preparations for the inspection, evaluation, and acceptance of Mt. Siguniang Geopark are steadily advancing
This week, the working group sorted out and selected cultural and creative products for Mt. Siguniang Geopark, including the type, visibility, uniqueness, and practicality of the products, to ensure that they are in line with the overall cultural characteristics of the geopark. In addition, the procurement and preparation of relevant cultural and creative products have been submitted to the relevant responsible person.

3、The design work of the signage system for Mt. Siguniang Geopark is progressing in an orderly manner
This week, the design work for the signage system of Mt. Siguniang Geopark has continued to progress, with several key locations for surveillance layout and site selection recently completed. The working group focused on inspecting the checkpoint at the entrance of Mu'erzhai Valley, comprehensively considering factors such as tourist flow and traffic flow in the area to ensure the effectiveness and coverage of the surveillance system. At the same time, a detailed survey was conducted on the environment and human activities at important scenic spots in Shuicao Flat of Mu'erzhai Valley, as well as the geological landscape (such as fold profiles) at the southern end of Jiesi Valley, providing an important basis for the subsequent layout of surveillance. Other key surveillance points include the entrance of Jiesi Valley, the boundary between Wori Town and Wori-Meixing Town, and the boundary between Fubian and Lianghekou. The working group conducted assessments and fixed points for traffic flow and pedestrian flow at these locations.

4、The museum cluster of Mt. Siguniang Geopark is well-designed and progressing in an orderly manner
This week, the design and construction work of the themed pavilions at the Mt. Siguniang Geopark Museum is progressing in an orderly manner. The completion rate of the metal joists for the exhibition walls in the Culture and Development Theme Pavilion has reached 95%. To ensure the project progresses smoothly as planned, the relevant person in charge of the Apply for the Unesco Global Geopark team conducted a comprehensive self-inspection of the on-site construction progress and safety. It is expected that the sealing work for the Culture and Development Theme Pavilion will be fully completed by mid-March. Meanwhile, the wire trays for the Culture and Development Theme Pavilion have arrived on site, and the wire laying work will commence simultaneously tomorrow. The dismantling work for the geological theme pavilion has also begun, and it is expected to be completed within three days to ensure space for the new round of exhibition setup. The foundation demolition and modification work for the Ecological Theme Pavilion is expected to enter the implementation phase within a week.
The two rooms on the third floor of the teaching building at Mt. Siguniang Town Primary School have been selected for exhibition setup and enhancement in the natural classroom, aiming to provide support for subsequent educational activities. All hardware equipment related to multimedia interactive exhibits has been ordered and will be installed promptly once the site meets the necessary conditions. Additionally, the layout of graphic and text content, along with software production, is being carried out simultaneously to ensure the smooth completion and presentation of various exhibition contents during the setup process of each themed pavilion.

5、Participate in the 2025 GGN Food Symposium Online
On February 25th, Mt. Siguniang Geopark participated in the UNESCO Global Geopark Food Culinary Exchange Online. The seminar focused on various initiatives and examples, showcasing how geoparks effectively promote conservation and highlight their unique culinary features through examples of geopark cuisine from different regions, thereby fostering community engagement and promoting Sustainable Practices.

6、Formulate plans for billboards, inspection reception materials, and other related aspects
On February 28th, the Mt. Siguniang application team held a special meeting, focusing on the discussion of billboard design and the preparation of welcome and inspection materials. The Marketing Department, Office, Finance Department, Logistics Center, and other relevant departments participated in the plan development. The meeting clarified the requirements for the layout of billboards and also discussed the welcome and inspection materials, including cultural and creative dolls, cloth bags, water cups, sun hats, and acceptance manuals. All departments will collaborate to produce and distribute materials on time, making full preparations for the inspection assessment.
