A branch of the Qionglai Mountains, the Jiajin Mountains have their main peak reaching 4,930 m. The cliffs on both sides are steep, and the valleys are deep and narrow. The Jiajin Mountains were the first major snow-covered range crossed by the Red Army during the Long March in China.
