Rising to 5,040 m, Balang Mountain is a ridge-like horn peak group located at the end of the Danba Valley, marking the boundary between Xiaojin and Wenchuan counties. In Tibetan, it is called Balang La, meaning “Sacred Willow Mountain”. The mountain is composed of Triassic sandstone and slate, with numerous sharp and steep horn peaks.
